| This component of
project services relates to the burgeoning self-determination
movement within the disability field. More and more often, when
students graduate they will be offered the opportunity to control
the public support resources for employment and will be expected
to make decisions on hiring staff, paying for services rendered,
stating their relative satisfaction with the process and outcome
of services and numerous other “customer” responsibilities.
This project will prepare students to live in a self-determined
service arena by introducing budgets during the Full Transition
Phase. Teachers and students, in partnership with the Project
Team, will control budgets in this phase. Students will work
with teachers to use support funds to make decisions about the
contract staff they will hire to assist them with their employment
experiences and part-time jobs. |
