Sean Swindle
- A "MYTI" Graduate

On
May 25, 2006 in Greensboro, Alabama, Sean Swindle, a former
MYTI participant, graduated from Greensboro West High School.
Harrison County School District representatives, Kathy Williams,
MYTI Transition Specialist, and Eunetha Polk, MYTI teacher,
attended the graduation ceremony. Sean’s parents are
both originally from the Greensboro area. Many family members,
maternal and paternal, who live in the Greensboro community
were in attendance including his grandmother, grandfather,
aunts, uncles and numerous cousins.
Sean
and his family left the gulf coast area after hurricane Katrina.
Since relocating to Alabama, he has adjusted to the move and
made many new friends at school and in the community. Sean
is now driving and has a part-time job on the weekends. Upon
completion of a GED, he plans to go to ITT vocational school
and pursue a career as a game tester.
After the graduation ceremony, a family dinner was held at
a local restaurant, the Smokehouse. Sean sat at the head of
the table and blessed the food that was ordered from the menu.
We were impressed at how his self-esteem has increased and
how much he has matured since his relocation to the Greensboro
community. When he entered the MYTI program, Sean was a shy,
introverted young man with few friends outside of his two
pet bearded dragons and his parents. In the Greensboro community,
he has many new friends and is even planning a future with
his girlfriend, Tamika.
Congratulations,
Sean!
