MG&A's Eleventh Annual Retreat
Our retreat has been expanding in the past few years and we have responded to requests to offer Gateway Trainings in the Discovery Process and Job Development, in addition to our traditional retreat forum. Participants will need to select on the registration form which one of the three strands they wish to attend. The three strands are described below. Participants must commit to one of the three strands. Please read the descriptions below to guide you in determining which strand meets your needs. Please read carefully as people tend to get confused between the Discovery Gateway Training and the general Discovery Retreat.
1. Discovery “Gateway” Training. This training is designed to teach the Discovery process, including Discovery, development of the Profile, the Customized Plan for Employment and the development of a Visual Resume. Anyone interested in participating in the Discovery Gateway Training is welcome. People who attend each day of this training will be eligible to pursue Certification in Discovery.
Space for the Discovery “Gateway” Training is limited to 25 slots.
2. Job Development “Gateway” Training. This training is designed to teach participants the Essential Elements of Developing a Customized Job including representation of the job seeker, Developing a Concept Portfolio, and conducting a Benefits/Needs Analysis. Anyone interested in participating in the Job Development Gateway Training is welcome. Previous attendance at a Discovery Gateway Training is recommended but not required. People who attend each day of this training will be eligible to pursue Certification in Job Development.
Space for the Job Development “Gateway” Training is Limited to 15 slots.
3. The Retreat sessions will be open to anyone who has attended a previous retreat, has attended a MG&A training or has certification in any of our three areas of performance-based options - Discovery, Job Development or Systematic Instruction. Please note that the retreat sessions are separate from the Gateway Trainings. The retreat sessions have open forum group discussions—they are not training sessions.
The General Retreat Sessions will be similar to the traditional “returnees” group of previous years and will provide an opportunity for in-depth discussion on all aspects of the Customized Process, especially on Discovery. There will be opportunity to discuss an array of second and third generation topics related to the facilitation of Discovery. The agenda will be flexible with opportunities to engage in both large and small group discussion. This session will be lead by an MG&A Associate.
MG&A Associates and Mentors: If you are an MG&A associate and/or mentor, you are invited to attend separate sessions of the retreat to discuss the future direction of the organization and to explore future training, mentoring and technical assistance opportunities. This session will be led by Michael Callahan, Therese Fimian and Randy Dicks.
Space for the Discovery Retreat is limited to 50 slots.
Registration is now open.
